It is still coming! Honest! Eye issues have slowed everything waaaaay down, but I'm still plodding along.

Life of a pantser... Character: "I'm left-handed." Author: "Got it. Left. Wait! What? I just wrote all those fight scenes with you being right-handed." Character: "Sorry." Author: "Why didn't you tell me?" Character: "You didn't ask." And now to fix the entire battle scene.

Finally!! A proof book for the new edition has arrived!

Whew... rebranding is finally finished! It was a difficult decision to revert back to my maiden name, but I think it's best in the long run. AND... I can't wait to get my books back out! It's exciting to be getting close!!

@JuneDayBooks I am an editor, but I always have an editor work on my books (after family and friends help of course : ) ). I think an author needs an outside set of eyes to spot problems they may miss.

Indie Authors... This question is specifically for you. Who does your edits? You? Do you hire someone? I'm lucky to have my Mom help me a lot with that. She's a VERY avid reader and probably would have been an English teacher if she didn't get married and have me.

Writers, have you ever based a character on a real person in your fiction?

@L_Eve_Gale Yes! It's what I do for a living. And no! I hate editing my own work before sending it to my editor. So, I guess it is both. 😂

@SilverGill47 @RGRyan777 That's not what an editor is supposed to do. They are supposed to make sure your unique voice comes through while correcting what needs fixed.

@RGRyan777 My editor has stated (her way of thinking is very different from mine), “I’m editing you out of the story.” 🥺

Writer Family: Like vs As If? My editor keeps telling me to change all my likes to as ifs. What is your thoughts on this? Example bellow. "Axyl felt a tug deep inside, like (as if) a whisper urging him forward."

Who decides words become archaic? I mean... I learned the spell and meaning of "engulph" from reading Herman Melville's Moby Dick (Ch. 9) in middle school. Now I'm told I can't use that spelling because it's wrong. It's supposed to be engulf, which looks completely wrong!!

A book of nothing but poetry about dogs. I think I found my new favorite book! It was published in 1916.

@katkinneywrites I tried Atticus software and had quite a few issues with it. I switched to Affinity, which I really like.

Who uses Atticus software to format? I'm considering getting it, but I've heard it can be buggy and cumbersome to use. I've always used Kindle Create, but would like to do prettier interiors. #writingcommunity
