There is a Bill in Parliament right now by Murugara and JLAC, i.e., Criminal Procedure Code (Amendment) Bill, 2026, and most Kenyans have NO idea what’s inside. It creates a powerful, dangerous Criminal Procedure Rules Committee (see pages 19-20 of the Bill). Who sits in it? Chief Justice, AG(executive), Police IG, DPP, Commisioner prisons, EACC & others. And what will they do? They will make rules that courts must follow in criminal cases (p.19-20). Not laws passed by Parliament. Rules. And these rules can influence things like: Bail, bond terms, and much more How cases are handled in court How fast or slow cases move Now imagine this: You protest against Ruto. You get arrested. And Bail? Suddenly KSh 3M or more And your Case? It drags for months, etc. All “within procedure or these new rules that will keep changing.” No law changed, just the rules. And you had ZERO say in those rules. It gets worse. The Bill allows courts to declare you mentally unfit if you can’t understand proceedings or instruct a lawyer (p.8-10). Then you can be detained in a mental facility for 14 days, extendable up to 6 months (p.12). No conviction. Just procedure. Ask yourself: In a country where critics are already targeted, what could go wrong? Yes, there are several good parts in the bill: The ODPP must now seek court approval before dropping a case (p.6). But let’s be honest: This Bill gives the system cleaner, more structured ways for the government to control outcomes. Very neat on paper. Very dangerous in the wrong hands. Read it. Don’t ignore it.

We talk about how when you're excluded you should remain excluded but we don't talk about how those who exclude you become even angrier when you exclude yourself bc they were expecting you to seek their validation so they could include you. Always funny to watch.

The true Head of State has spoken. The 16% VAT was never a domestic policy; it was an IMF conditionality to guarantee foreign debt repayment. The Executive panicked and broke the IMF's rules to stop a domestic Hustler revolt, and now Washington is violently yanking the leash. This warning proves that Kenya's economic sovereignty is an illusion, and it guarantees that the 90-day 8% VAT 'relief' will snap back to 16% the second the IMF demands it.

Gladys Shollei is pushing a dangerous amendment, and Kenyans should pay attention. Yesterday, during a debate on the Public Participation Bill, she proposed removing a key safeguard: the requirement to publish public participation outcomes. Right now, Section 12(2) requires that once public participation is done, the results be made public, for example, on a website, so citizens can see what Kenyans actually said. Her proposal? Remove it completely or Keep that information private. If you want it, you must apply to the same authority that collected it. Let me be honest, we already know how this ends. We have been requesting NHIF, Housing levy, and capitation data for over 6 months. Letters sent to MOH and MOE. No response. Total silence. We are now heading to court soon. Now imagine this: A bad bill is rejected by Kenyans during public participation. The authority then claims: “Kenyans supported it.” How do you verify? You write to them, and they ignore you. That’s the trap. This amendment would legalize secrecy and make it impossible to hold the government accountable. Public participation without transparency is just a rubber stamp. MPs must reject this amendment. Kenyans deserve a public portal where participation outcomes are visible, verifiable, and permanent. Enough hiding. Article 35 on access to information is becoming ceremonial, and soon, we will prove that in court.

Something doesn’t add up tonight. VAT changes must go through Parliament under the VAT Act 2013. Any change beyond 25% of the tax rate can’t be applied first. It must be approved within about 15 days. Anything beyond that goes against the law.

Ndii, you just accidentally confessed to the robbery while trying to play the professor. We know Platts dictates the base product price. But Senator Ledama is exposing the 'Freight & Premium'-which YOU just admitted is $253.94/MT! Under the Open Tender System, premiums were under $50. Even early G-to-G premiums were $100. A $254 premium means cartels are skimming roughly Ksh 28 per litre JUST on 'trade margins' before a single tax is applied. Stop hiding a historic cartel markup behind the Platts index. We aren't arguing about the cost of the oil; we are arguing about the cost of your middlemen.
