UNC has made it to the national championship 3 times in the last decade. Nobody else can match that. Only two other schools have been twice. And Jay Williams’ school hasn’t been at all!

Everyone keeps saying this and yet once upon a time at a place, a 38 year old guy was hired and won AP Coach of the Year in his first season. His name was Matt Doherty.
Just because a guy has a seemingly longer runway doesn’t necessarily translate into winning or success.

@FirstTake @RealJayWilliams So he’s basing this off two years? UNC swept Duke in 2024 and a 1 seed, UNC beat Duke in this last Cameron K game and then weeks later in final 4 to retire K. Oh and UNC has been to 3 national title games and won since Duke last one a final 4 game.
