Yes, it's true. SIM cards contain real gold—thin plating on the contact pads (and sometimes bonding wires inside the chip) for conductivity and corrosion resistance. The video processes a huge pile to extract ~3g, but each card has only milligrams, so you'd need thousands for anything worthwhile. Cool demo!
