@Terry_Gillen And as this successful company founder points out, the jobs would have been filled by residents in the suburbs and city. @septa funding for regular and reliable service is a regional job creation, retention, and growth issue, not just a city one. @ChamberPHL

@jongeeting Maybe center city is “small” because taxes strangle economic growth? Not sure it has anything to do with zoning when there are plenty of available sites to build high density, just not the demand.

It’s bad for Philly’s economy that Center City has to be so small. They allotted the stingiest tiniest area for the good high-rise zoning, and now there’s a tight corset of historic districts and single-family rowhouse zoning all around it
Bobby Fijan@bobbyfijan

I love Center City Philadelphia *because* it’s tiny. It’s so much more compact, that it has features New York City can never dream of. In Philadelphia … these 2 photos are 800 yards apart. And the rowhomes are <$800,000

The next chapter of my lab's story begins today at @Penn as I join the faculty of @pennbioeng and @CIS_Penn! ❤️💙 My wonderful students and I will continue to push the frontiers of generative algorithm theory to design and translate next-gen biologics for unmet/rare indications (pediatric sarcomas, neurodegeneration, substance-use disorders, and infertility) and for environmental bioremediation efforts (heavy metal sequestration, pollutant chemical degradation). There’s no better place to translate this work into real-world impact than @Penn! 🌟 I also want to express my deep gratitude to @DukeUBME for taking a chance on me at the very start of my faculty journey -- for the trust, resources, and space to grow our ambitious AIxBio program from the ground up. I loved every moment of my time in Durham, and it is absolutely the most kind and supportive environment there is in academia. Thank you so much for the last three years. 💙 I hope you all will continue to follow our work! 🥹 Please feel free to reach out and try our models -- we're always here and ready to collaborate! 🙌 💻: chatterjeelab.com 🤗: huggingface.co/ChatterjeeLab

@harrisonfinberg Regular and safe service works. Seems liken city services have better ridership that regional rail running once an hour.

@MikeSielski Grew up playing at Sturgis. Sixers would never hang there. Even the water ice truck would reject them.

At this rate, it might be appropriate for the #Sixers to forget about the South Philly arena thing and just play their home games at Sturgis Playground in Olney.

It’s not just businesses choosing Pennsylvania, it’s big events too. I’m proud of the fact that we landed the NFL Draft in Pittsburgh. That’s on top of the FIFA World Cup, the MLB All-Star Game, the PGA Championship, and more — not just in Philly, but all across the Commonwealth. My budget ensures those epic events have the resources they need. Because all eyes will be on Pennsylvania as we celebrate America’s 250th birthday in 2026.

My wife, for example, worked for an agency that did significant work in Philly. The top guy at kept a literal file on college players the Eagles might draft. There is not one aspect of life in Philly that isn't touched by the Eagles. That's how much this means to that city

When you're in a city like NY, you meet ppl who aren't into sports. They put energy into theater or opera, but sports doesn't do anything for them. Those people don't exist in Philly. They'll go to the opera, but they'll wear Eagles bow ties. There's no one NOT cheering the Birds

@KevinCooney Really? 15 of the last 25 games have been in Phila. Rotation of games has been an explicit initiative of the service academies, mostly for financial reasons. Phila (state/city/Eagles/Sports Congress) does a great job retaining majority of games & delivering a great experience.
