We lost a dear friend, Annie De Silva. The ceremony brought ppl together from across the wld, laughing/crying/singing/celebrating Annie’s uniqueness & nrg. She was a radiant light & co-founded the Prana Lounge in Sri Lanka, a lasting legacy. We miss you Annie but carry you w/ us.

@avfc_stef I agree with @avfc_stef here. On bigger point about match-day atmosphere, it’s not just #AVFC, it’s an issue at most clubs. Bottom line in my view is that being a Holte Ender is always about being more than a spectator, it is about getting involved, sticking w/ the team etc..

@StanCollymore Check this out @StanCollymore! My dad worked in Paris when I was a kid, so my nanna and grandpop brought my Tomahawk over to me from the West Midlands. So there I was tearing it up in the 15th arrondissement, about 3 or 4 miles from Parc des Princes. Do you dig the threads?

You only have to look at the thread under the Tomahawk post to see how many of us in this country all seemed to share something very special at the same time in different parts of the country. Before tech really hit, when many of our toys were meant for outdoors and Wheb we could all go a mile or more from home with mates in our own made up worlds without a care. I've read this thread at least 10 times and it's so good to know that so many people felt as lucky ( it was rough too!) to grow up in the 70s and 80s. Wouldn't change those 2 decades for any other.

@StanCollymore As life passes us by I realise that the times that everyone told us would be the best times of our lives, actually were. I would give so much to have one more family Christmas with parents and grandparents even though I pretended to hate it at the time I miss those days 😢❤️

On the issue of boosting employer engagement in upskilling initiatives, my take is that representative employer organisations - national, regional and sectoral - have a massive convening and galvanising role to play. Keen to hear views on this and recent examples!

Other big ticket items in the environs of Morden included delivering bespoke support for target groups, driving change in outdated hiring practices & recognising specific sectoral challenges (incl specific focus on care, construction & creative industries). Lots to build on!

Yesterday’s keynote intro was also an opportunity to ‘play back’ some of the big ideas and recurring themes from the dozens of outstanding entries. Had to deal with a bit noise but that’s par for course at award events. Big thanks for the positive feedback on my talk at the end!

Re: #BritishRecruitmentAwards - I was invited to canter through a scene-setting keynote to 400 recruiters in the Prosecco-fulled cauldron of the Grand Hall. Not the easiest of speaking gigs, but I kept it moving & kept it light - including quick round of #Futureofwork NumberWang!
