@CarlJ977271 @SkyedOKC If the Nuggets win the West, yes people will look back and say he was robbed, but if he doesn't people will forget, and if the Thunder win, nobody will care similar to when Chamberlain averaged 50 and Big O averaged a triple double in the same season and neither won MVP

@SkyedOKC Not to be rude and this is just my opinion, but we are going to look back and think how and why did joker get robbed of these MVPs..it’s a shame, no disrespect to SGA or anything either this is just the opinion of the majority of nba fans

@jaylentaylor013 @ganky142 @AshNicoleMoss Yes, he used his leverage, at the same time there is a scenario in which he still goes to the Clippers even if they refuse the PG trade. They agreed to all the other concessions, and other teams were not willing to give him what the Clippers did.

@jaylentaylor013 @ganky142 @AshNicoleMoss In theory, the reality is Kawhi bluffed them and the Clippers fell for it. He threatened to sign with the Lakers but everyone knew he wasn't going to team up with Bron and A.D., and he already said he wasn't staying with the Raptors. Clippers were just dumb and desperate

@ganky142 @AshNicoleMoss This trade was essentially for PG AND Kawhi (fresh off FMVP). Keep that in mind. Them getting PG is what got them Kawhi Leonard

@WhigBiskey @SwipaCam Bill Simmons just did, when he made the SGA/Podz comments, he said if you replace Joker with Onyeka from the Hawks the Nuggets win 35 games 😂

@Iknowstuff9 @SwipaCam I've never seen anyone make the lottery team case. But I'll give it a go. Injuries wreck seasons. 126 games missed by 4 of Denver's top 6 players (not Joker). W/O Joker, a 7-10 seed is reasonable. If healthy all year, I think they'd be a 3-6 seed and avoid the lottery.

We have ABSOLUTELY overlooking the reality that Jokic is having the best offensive season of his career and LEADING the best offense in the NBA (BY A LOT) and having the best offensive swing +12.5 of all MVPs candidates. And I have NO idea why other than ‘it’s Jokic’.

@Drewmamba619 @yousomelo @ScottKacsmar Deepest team yes, because they actually play guys and give them an opportunity to perform. It's not like they are the most talented team, from a talent standpoint they are actually on par with couple of the elite teams in the league.

The question is when will voters get SGA fatigue? He's had basically the same MVP case for 3 years. He's not even that fun to watch like others who clearly were penalized for voter fatigue (Jordan, Peyton, LeBron, Lamar, Jokic, etc.).
Nuggs 🏀@OldYungDale

@ScottKacsmar @MileHighWeezy Apparently he needs to lead the league in points, assists, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, +/-, wins, he also needs to get 35 point triple doubles in every game before the 4th quarter and sit out every 4th quarter. Then just MAYBE, the media would consider another MVP for him.

@WhigBiskey @SwipaCam So then atleast for this season can the "Nuggets would be a lottery team" narrative without Joker be put to bed, because all evidence says otherwise. Not beating the elite teams doesn't mean you aren't a playoff team.

@Iknowstuff9 @SwipaCam No Tatum. Nuggets had Aaron Gordon and Peyton Watson in that game. Both missed a month-and-a-half since he came back. I'll give you the 76ers. They have a pulse. It was an ok win. Point remains. Joker was injured during an easier stretch for them. No OKC/Spurs/Rockets/Wolves

@WhigBiskey @SwipaCam So without him they were able to defeat the team with the 2nd best record in the East at the time; and why doesn't the Philly win count? Sixers had everybody healthy at the time, and that was without Jamal and Joker.

@Iknowstuff9 @SwipaCam Go look at who they played while he was injured. Boston was the only legit team they beat, and that was when Tatum was out. Raptors and Clips were okay wins. Any other team with a pulse beat them. Hell, the Nets beat them.

@kbigzk @D_Town_303 @BobbyMlRE Where are the 4 Starters that missed half the season? Aaron Gordon and Braun missed just as much time as Jalen Williams and Hartenstein. Caruso and AJay Mitchell missed just as much as Watson (Not a starter) and Cam Johnson (didn't miss half the season) 👍🏿

the nuggets season was fr in 3 parts: 20-6 record to start the season 19-20 record during the injury-plagued stretch 15-2 record to close the season honestly crazy when you look at it like this

@D_Town_303 @BobbyMlRE @kbigzk So even if you were healthy, you wouldn't be in contention for the 1 seed if OKC was healthy as well. So your initial "Imagine" hypothetical is mute🤷🏿‍♂️

@SwipaCam You say they are not able to win minutes without their best player (Jokic); yet are somehow able to win games without him. Also not sure why games in which a player doesn't play aren't included in their on/off metrics.

@aghease @BillSimmons I mean in their title defense run I'm pretty sure they blew a 20 point 2nd half lead in game 7 at home; that can't be on the front office 🤷🏿‍♂️

@BillSimmons But because of Denver’s front office incompetence, and an NBA team that blesses perpetually brutal teams like Sac & Wash with lottery pick after lottery pick instead of letting teams that do things the right way like Denver get better, Jokic will finish with only 1 ring

Quick NBA history note… Only six players had at least SIX top-2 MVP finishes — Kareem, MJ, LeBron, Russell, Wilt and Bird. Only Russell and Bird finished top-2 for 6 years in a row. Jokic went 1-1-2-1-2 the last 5 years — and has a legit chance to finish 2nd this season.

@Tarantino477 @BeatGoodca69168 @tylerbritton_ @Tankseyy They aren't average, they are just lesser known .Agree on the Bron take though, this idea that he makes any team a contender is a fallacy, Also that stuff is conference specific, because that never happens out West. Only in the East do we see teams make these "underdog" runs

@BeatGoodca69168 @tylerbritton_ @Tankseyy That's a really poorly written post, and a really poorly thought out argument. Jalen Duren is good. Cade's teammates are pretty fucking average aside from that.

If the goal of basketball is to win, and you can only win at the highest level with great teammates, why do we value players who do “more with less” than those who do “more with more”? Sure, Derrick White, Alex Caruso or Draymond Green in a #1 option role wouldn’t lift a lesser cast to playoff wins…. but does it matter? When great on-ball creators get their team to the playoffs and lose in the first round, we default to “once they get a cast around them….” instead of “how would this skill set look like on a team that actually has a chance to win?” The ability to complement other talented players is almost always more important than the ability to lift less talented players. It isn’t about “stars vs role players”, it’s about which skills lead to NBA championships. And those who can complement, or even enhance the best players in the league without diminishing any of their own value will always be among the most valuable.

Danny Green says it’s crazy that the year Steph Curry won unanimous MVP: “So, nobody else could have got a vote that year? It’s the first guy ever in we couldn’t get nobody else a vote. A LeBron James couldn’t get a vote…. He shot unbelievable, bro. He deserved MVP. I’m not saying he didn’t but you couldn’t get 98. You couldn’t just give the n***a two votes for one other person. Like, bro are you sh*tting me? In 2016, LeBron wasn’t fu*king crazy. He couldn’t have 95 votes, spread out five other votes to somebody else. You would have thought he was Wilt? I’m looking back at it now like damn. At the time we knew he was going to win it. I was like whatever he won MVP, but I’m not thinking of like the magnitude of the first unanimous, like Wilt averaged 50 points and 30 rebounds and I don’t think he was never unanimous.” (Via @NFGShow)

Paul Pierce says you’ll have a better chance of scoring 100 points in a game than having a guy lead the league in assists and rebounds: “We’re never going to see a season like this again from no one else ever in the history of the game.” (Via @NFGShow)

@SwipaCam @JesseCrittenden Makes sense, a bit disingenuous though, almost impossible to field an elite regular season defense on a team with Jokic so he will always fair better than his comp in this regard; not saying he doesn't play D, just sayin the roster construction this would take is not feasible

SGA vs. the nuggets last year: 29.7 ppg, 62.8% true shooting, 56.5% EFG His true shooting in the regular season was 63.7%. Certainly didn’t plummet against the Nuggets. Also, Jokic vs. the Thunder: 28.4 ppg, 59.2% true shooting, 52.5% EFG Let’s not just say stuff
Jason Timpf@_JasonLT

Shai’s TS% plummeted in the playoffs last year. If he can demonstrate this level of play for 4 rounds, then we can have a conversation. But at the end of the day, the regular season is just that, the regular season. That’s why every year on opening weekend of the playoffs we’re so surprised at how different the game looks.
