@autismadhdmicro 💯 This. After years of struggling with this I finally managed to get the school on board with flexibility. We built in half day on Wed every week. They come home and complete those lessons at home. So much easier than picking up the pieces after burn out. Keep up being awesome!

Note to #AutismParents You’re not failing if your child needs a rest day from school. Going from barely any school maybe 10/20% this time last year to 80% this term has taken some considerable work. But today, a rest so it’s a delve into the 90’s indie scene. #Autism

@matt_fallaize @IMBurns @YvonneBurford @steve_falla However as I recall the rules regarding what could constitute a party promotion of candidates is quite broad so bodies can’t just promote candidates. At least at the last election that was what I was told by several 3rd sector orgs who felt the rules were prohibitive.

Unbelievably, a majority of this assembly has just voted to only allow candidates in 2025 to spend only 40% of what they themselves were allowed to spend to get elected. @steve_falla amendment passed by 19 votes to 18. #govgg

It’s a flaw in the system if the public aren’t able to discern between the successful electioneerers and actual positive policy agendas that can be progressed.

They’re doing it because it works. It worked for them last time and sadly they aren’t held to account for their failure to actually do anything positive once elected.

@oldfarmhorace @matt_fallaize If we need jeopardy to keep people on their toes then that doesn’t make for a good system. Keeping people in constant fight or flight isn’t a healthy or sustainable way of running things.

@autismadhdmicro I so empathise with this. It has gotten easier now that they’re older but they still start to get anxious at the beginning of term. Hope H gets a cool start to term this time. 🤗

As the parent I never pass my worries on to them, actually I would say I lie. I lie to my children about how wonderful things are going to be, how they will be fine, how all the teachers will understand them. Then I sit back and catch them every-time they fall 4/4

@heymartineellis I’ve been on threads now, just occasionally checking in here. From the look on there there was a mass exodus from Twitter when the Musk got musky with democracy.

Is a managed decline a bad thing? A smaller population may result in more resources per capita. This can lead to better access to quality healthcare, education, and other public services, as resources are not stretched thinly across a large population.

@mitchell_di We have a different system in Gsy so comparisons to the UK are not as helpful as you think. The point is electioneering in 2020 by this ESC falsely accused the 2SM of increasing class sizes but they have done so twice in this term. The effect is being felt by student now.

@ImproSarah Still well under the 30 in the UK plus the non teaching Head, Deputy Head, and SENCO. Good provision I'd say?

Interesting to see a row brewing over class sizes in the UK election, but class sizes went up twice under this ESC committee and no-one’s batted an eye. Will the public notice before our 2025 election?

@PeterRoffey5 I agree cost shouldn’t be an issue. It isn’t democracy if there are votes that could hinge on one or two votes taking place while those vacancies aren’t filled. The problem isn’t the cost of the bi-election it’s the cost of the actual election. It need to be reformed.

@ImproSarah Not 100% sure but I think it is an amendment to the Reform Law, which would require the same to reverse. Either way it could be done. My worry is that if the objection to by-elections is cost then those costs would be the same whether it was to replace one of 38 or one of 28.

Although I profoundly disagree, I fully accept the States decision not to hold any by-elections until there's at least 3 vacancies. Effectively scrapping all by-elections ever. But I hope this rule will be reconsidered if any future decision is taken to have fewer deputies.

"Astonishing" number of hand written manifestos Revelations that candidates at the last election submitted handwritten manifestos has led the States Assembly & Constitution Committee to stick with the status quo ahead of the next election brnw.ch/21wJSkm
