Ronaldo was so desperate to catch Messi's scoring stats that Real Madrid forwards would cut backwards when they're through on goal to find Ronaldo. Benzema hit a 5 league goals, then did 21 the next year once Ronaldo left. Dybala scored 22, then 5 next year when Ronaldo joined.
