Some kinda odd 1920s training apparatus?! Pictured is Kid Francis, Europe's 118-pound title champion, and leading contender for the Bantamweight title. In training here for a Nov 1928 bout at Olympic Auditorium, Los Angeles against Young Nationalista. The Kid’s right name was Francesco Buonaugurio of Naples, Italy. His boxing career spanned 1922 to 1936. He returned home after retirement and was later deported and murdered in Auschwitz in 1943.

World Welterweight Champion Jackie Fields defeated Tommy Freeman via TKO #OnThisDay in 1930 when their non-title clash at Public Hall in Cleveland, Ohio, was stopped after four rounds of a scheduled 12 when Freeman sustained a badly cut lip. Around 8,000 fans reportedly saw an entertaining tear-up in which both men dished out and shipped punishment before Freeman suffered a "grotesque" and "gory" injury which left both fighters smeared in blood.
