The Viet Cong flamethrowered villagers. They were not uniformly good people. After North Vietnam conquered the south, they straight up murdered about 60,000 people in re-education camps and another 250,000 boat people died trying to escape the re-education camps. The bad guys won the Vietnam War, and all my boomer buddies who look on the NVA and VC fondly are blind and deaf and retarded. That includes Lucas. That said, the modern Vietnam are mostly not the evil and corrupt men that were committing the atrocities, and I'm sure they're unaware of those atrocities.
