It’s a national embarrassment that we still have leasehold tenure. Nobody wants to be a “tenant” in a home they “own” Harry is right, densification should be on better terms, commonhold.

@NeilDotObrien No surprise to me. We have the 2nd lowest proportion of flats in our housing stock of any country in Europe, after Ireland who inherited leasehold from us and detested being tenants. @JohnTuckersaur @MikeKlimes_MM No they do not. There's commonhold and freehold. Try to explain leasehold to someone who never lived in the UK, they won't get it. To be fair, most people in the UK don't get it. Because it's an outdated system that favours the landed gentry who had been done away with elsewhere.

Great to speak today to compliance pros, insurers and officials from @TheFCA on leasehold buildings insurance and the bribes and kickbacks now endemic in this sector. Leaseholders are captive consumers who are forced to fund freeloading freeholders. This must end. @CommonholdNow
