I think one of the problems with gaming these days is that it's no longer about just enjoyment (which is sad). The advent of achievements becoming mainstream has taught a lot of gamers that it's not worth doing unless you're the best at it. Or can provide some kind of unique insight into it. Granted, people were still doing these things before this system existed but it was more often than not for the love of it. Not to inflate your ego or to boost some arbitrary number. Furthermore I'd like to state that I love seeing people do cool things. Challenges can be fun (especially speedruns even though I couldn't fathom doing it myself). But it shouldn't be considered the norm. Just something extra because you feel like it. Enjoying a game or piece of media shouldn't be required to go beyond the simple act of consuming it because it's fun.

YouTube be like : " I just played [insert game here ] on the hardest settings " " Today I played [insert game here ] with random gimmick that takes being an expert at the game or investing many hours outside of it etc " Are we allowed to just...Play the game ? Not be an expert at it ? Just..play it? Does every game need...further gamified ?
