@MJJoyceCrowley The bird could actually be the Minokawa as well, the sun eater, with them being both giant, having distinct eyes and framing them with the sun. It also looks like the Philippine Flag's Golden Sun is a big part of the movie as well so Minokawa might somehow get involved through it

Let’s start with this cutie patootie! There’s actually quite a lot of mythical birds featured in various folktales in the Philippines, but based on its colorful plumage, I’ll take an educated guess and say this is very much the Adarna Bird (aka the Ibong Adarna).

While I said before that I was apprehensive about the mythological aspect of this film, those fears went right outside the window when I saw how gorgeous the animation is (also FILIPINO SAPPHICS❗️) That said, here’s a little 🧵 of the mythical creatures I spied in the trailer:

Also it being the "Forgotten Island" fits as Philippines is made out of islands (7,641 to be exact as our schools won't let us forget) so it taking place in a magical hidden island is INSPIRED.

I've seen comments on how the 'indie scene' has been taken over by stablished creators, but to me, the fact that people who've worked in the industry need to use kickstarter to have a chance to get their projects made after being shut down or strung along by networks worries me
