Today, my father and I went to western Gaza on a difficult and uncertain journey, searching for a place to rent after being told that we must leave the shelter we are currently living in by the end of this week, as it will be rehabilitated and used again for students. Until this very moment, we are still searching… but the reality is extremely harsh. Rental prices in Gaza City are incredibly high, far beyond what we can afford. At the same time, transportation costs have become extremely expensive due to the ongoing crisis and lack of resources, making this journey even more difficult. We are four families, a total of 22 people, including children, women, and elderly individuals, simply trying to find a safe place to stay and avoid homelessness. This new displacement is overwhelming, especially as we have no stable source of income and prices continue to rise dramatically. I have always tried to help others through our beautiful initiatives, doing my best to make a positive difference in people’s lives… but today, I find myself in need of your support and solidarity during this very difficult time. We urgently need €1500 to cover transportation and secure a place to stay during this critical time. For us, this amount is not a luxury—it is a lifeline that can keep 22 people from ending up on the streets. The most shocking thing in Gaza today is that there are more than 12,000 cancer patients who face death every day due to the absence of treatment and the complete collapse of the healthcare system. There are no medicines, no equipment, and no hospitals capable of saving them. It is a catastrophic and extremely dangerous situation. Every day, doctors come out warning about the worsening of this catastrophic situation, confirming that the numbers are steadily increasing, especially with the spread of war remnants and the pollution surrounding us from every side. Patients are left to their fate without any real intervention, and there are no means of treatment or even pain relief, nor any opportunity to travel abroad. The world stands helpless in delivering medicine to a besieged city, unable to save thousands of patients who are waiting for treatment as their most basic human right. We see the world speaking about human rights in newspapers and conferences, raising slogans and delivering speeches, but on the ground, nothing is provided and no one moves to save those who are dying in silence. My relative died a while ago, not only because of the illness itself, but because he was waiting for his turn for treatment that never came. We are literally living inside a prison, where the most basic human right—medical care is not available. How long will this neglect continue against us? How long will we keep living this suffering, children, women, and elderly patients?
