Hey guys I just found out today that I’m famous. Not internet famous. Not locally famous. Diner famous. And as far as I’m concerned, that’s the only kind that matters. I stopped by my usual spot this afternoon. Before I could even sit down, the waitress pointed at the chalkboard by the door. I looked up. There it was. My name. On a breakfast plate. Apparently, I’ve been ordering the same combination for so long that other regulars started asking for it by saying, “Whatever that guy always gets.” So the owner decided to just put my name on it and add it to the menu. Scrambled eggs. Crispy bacon. Home fries. Sourdough toast. Named after me. Permanently. I’ve achieved nothing in this life that will truly outlast me. No trophies. No plaques. Nothing hanging on any wall anywhere, but at a little diner two blocks from my house, there’s a breakfast plate with my name on it. And every morning, people are ordering me with their coffee. I tipped extra today. I’m so happy.

What’s messing with me isn’t just inflation… it’s the quality. Like how is everything expensive and still trash? Cheap stuff is bad. Mid-tier is bad. Even “premium” feels fake half the time. You can’t downgrade to save money. You can’t upgrade for peace of mind. It’s just this constant feeling of paying more and getting less.

And most Americans use their 2-3 weeks of vacation for doctors visits, appointments, and sick days. Most Americans go YEARS without a proper vacation that's more than 5 days long

I have said for years and will keep saying it. If we meet everyone’s basic material needs, sooooooo many of society’s issues will be reduced significantly. Drug abuse, alcoholism, domestic violence, child abuse, depression, anxiety, crime, etc. It’s really not rocket science. It’s common sense.

I almost posted something identical yesterday. I went down the soda aisle and in that moment just decided I couldn’t afford Diet Coke anymore. And it’s not that I don’t have $9, but the cost vs value just doesn’t math anymore. Grocery prices are a full blown crisis at this point, and I’d really like to see some congressional action on price gouging. Because starving people living in the same country where grocery conglomerates are posting record profits is not a sustainable model. The greed has gone too far. Time to rein it in.
