Knock First Minnesota

We urge city, state, and federal legislators around the country to adopt the Responsible Warrant Execution Act. We believe that No-Knocks will only be fully stopped when No-Knocks are banned AND responsible procedures are set forth. Our model legislation is available right here:

Amir Locke’s parents' fierce advocacy for the elimination of no-knock warrants in the year since their son was shot death, as a no-knock warrant was being served, is a big reason why Judicial and Public Safety Bill SF2909 is on the way to be signed by Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. ✊🏾

RECOMMENDATIONS: St. Louis’s new knock-and-announce policy is a step in the right direction. However, KFMN recommends nighttime restrictions, a 30 second minimum waiting period, and explicit language requiring robust and mandatory recordkeeping (6/6)

Knock First MN is a student-run organization at UST Law’s Interprofessional Center. All of us graduate in May, and will be leaving our project in the hands of Professor Carl Warren and the next set of students. As such, this account will go on a summer hiatus and return in fall.
