Their problem is that they have vision without understanding. @elonmusk wants X to be the Everything app. Cool. He’s not the first. That belongs to Microsoft Excel, the OG Everything App. And at the core of Excel is the understanding that an Excel user wants, above all else, the ability to structure their data. Everything Excel does is built on that fundamental understanding. X has features sans understanding. The X user wants, above all else, the ability to put a specific message in front of a specific audience. And instead of providing that, X builds features on top of an algorithm that selectively boosts or suppresses reach based on compliance. On the one hand, I get it. On the other, we’re all painfully aware how well TikTok did this prior to the Biden admin’s meddling and how lackluster X has been since rebranding. Until that’s fixed, most of these features are just boxes being checked at the expense of core functionality.

@LS_Keyes I can’t stand X articles. If I actually want to read one my workflow is: bookmark - copy article from laptop into Notes - export note to Kindle - sync Kindle Reading long form on phone is impossible yet they’ve shut down export options as much as they can to keep you on the app
