Peter Obi learned the art of dictatorship from Sani Abacha. Peter Gregory Obi was a dictator as a governor. He demolished the houses of those who disagreed with him. He arrested anyone he perceived as opposition, and even El-Rufai was one of his many victims. He held on to power throughout his two terms, spanning eight years, without local government chairmen. He diverted local government allocations to his offshore accounts. SARS was his killer squad. He passed an executive order of “shoot at sight,” which gave cover for the many atrocities committed by the killer gang led by James Nwafor. Many people were killed and buried in mass graves, while others were thrown into rivers and bushes. Peter Obi was that kind of man. He never listened to anyone. He was a dictator.

This is Tunde Oladepo Bureau Chief of Alex Ibru’s Guardian Newspaper in Ogun State who covered politics. Murdered February 1998 in front of his wife and children by agents of Abacha’s govt for writing an article criticising traditional rulers who supported Abacha’s attempt to become a civilian President. But to Peter Obi, Abacha is a more of democrat than NADECO activists abi? Very good.

When Pa Ayo Adebanjo who was one of the founding members of NADECO and Afenifere supported @PeterObi with his blood, sweat and tears during the 2023 election, Peter didn’t know Abacha was more democratic than Pa Adebanjo’s NADECO? When NADECO was fighting Abacha tooth and nail to restore democracy, was Peter Obi not going for meetings with Abacha and receiving appointments? When Pa Adebanjo rallied his NADECO machinery for your 2023 election, you didn’t know they were undemocratic? When you were visiting NADECO chieftains up and down for their endorsement, you didn’t know NADECO was undemocratic? Today you now want to insult and slander the group that fought for this country to return to democracy? I am certain Pa Ayo Adebanjo will be rolling in his grave at this statement. But we are here, we will make sure Peter Obi understands the implication of his statement.

Today, General Sani Abacha, once presumed face of oppression, will be remembered as seemingly more democratic and more respectful of human rights than the so-called champions of activism from the NADECO days.
