A lot of African languages are still underrepresented in AI systems. But language is more than words. Meaning also lives in tone, context, storytelling, and culture. That’s why @tonative_org is bringing storytelling into The Artificial Future. A poem in Hausa. A story in Swahili. An essay in Kinyarwanda. All of it can become training data for AI. Before the hackathon, they’re hosting a free workshop on language data curation. No technical background is required.
AI is already shaping climate decisions, public systems, and everyday life. But without openness, accountability, and citizen participation, AI risks deepening inequality instead of solving it.
At Gender Strategy Advancement International (GSAI), we believe that true inclusion begins where decisions are made. Advocacy is important, but transformation happens when women are not merely consulted, but represented, heard, and empowered in leadership and policy spaces. Tarana Burke reminds the world that “Power must be shared in policy rooms, not just discussed in advocacy circles.” Across Nigeria and Africa, women continue to drive communities, economies, and social progress, yet remain underrepresented in the rooms where laws, policies, and national priorities are shaped. This is why GSAI continues to champion conversations and actions around inclusive governance, gender equity, leadership, and institutional accountability. Representation is not symbolic. It is strategic. Because when women occupy decision-making spaces, policies become more responsive, governance becomes more inclusive, and democracy becomes stronger. A moment of vulnerability ……. I’m 42 in a few days and I’m terrified but also excited for my future. I’ve made choices that got me here and sometimes I wish I did differently but then again I look at how far I’ve come& I’m thankful. I know I’m a purposeful person. I know there’s more in me. But for the last few years, there’s been this quiet yearning I can’t ignore. A feeling that I’m supposed to be doing something more… something different… something bigger. The problem is life is always demanding something. Work, People, Responsibilities. Problems that need immediate attention. Every day seems to pull me further away from that voice instead of closer to it. Because of that, I haven’t really given myself the space to sit with it, understand it, or follow through. Big 42 in a few days and I think that’s what’s making this feeling louder. Time keeps moving whether we’re ready or not, and somewhere between gratitude and fear, I keep asking myself: at what point do you finally listen to the yearning? Maybe fear is part of it. Maybe uncertainty is too, but I also know deep down that ignoring yourself for too long comes with its own cost. So this is me being honest with myself. I know there’s another version of me waiting for permission to fully exist. I just need to find the courage to meet her.
