@AdamKinzinger I appreciate what a man of principle you are. That wasn’t new to me, but was further exemplified here. I hope we see you in office again - when rationality takes back over.

@THEbadgermaniac Yes…shot show on average for the season. Suspect it would be significantly higher based on last 4 games (young guys experience, some consistency, restored depth…). That needs to be part of the assessment.

#17 out of 18 teams for this once proud unit. The need at QB is real of course, but we cannot understate the need for significant improvement from the OL or this offense has no chance.

@ZachHeilprin @The_Camp_WI Let’s assume we get a Pribula level QB in portal. Are we feeling pretty good with C smith as our QB2 in 2026? Is that the beginning of end of the portal QB hamster wheel?

@ZachHeilprin @The_Camp_WI Great win and effort. How do you explain the extreme highs and lows from the past few seasons? (i.e. - Iowa & Ill in 2025; solid effort mid 2024 then complete collapse late season). Difficult to interpret this as anything but a coaching issue.

@THEbadgermaniac The coaches got a lot of flack, and rightly so, for the early season Oline incompetent. But, I think they need to get some credit for pulling it (Oline) together over the past few weeks, even in the face of more injuries.

Also wanted to give a shoutout to the OL. No, they weren't great, but considering the Badgers were not threat to even complete a pass and were facing a top 20 run D playing an 8-9 man box, there were more than a few credible runs where they were able to move people.

Seems there is something systemic going on - lots of changes and presumed improvements in the O coaching staff, but the results just go from bad to worse. I appreciate that we can point to “lots of changes” as cause, but in that you should see some signs of hope.

@ZachHeilprin Grimes has produced in other places and everyone thought he was a great fit here. I don’t see him called out for this O disaster. Am I missing it, or is he being given a pass and if so why?

@THEbadgermaniac I generally agree, but most felt at the time that this was a great hire. Even those that thought the choice should be JL agree this was the next best thing.

This is the world of Chris McIntosh. Labeling this as anything but a catastrophic blunder (to this point) not only in UW history, but in college athletics history, would be considered grossly erroneous.

Think of the level of mismanagement it takes to fire (or not hire) a successful coach, 100% loyal to your university (and willing to work below market value), and hire a coach that not only tanks success, but also with a buyout/salary so high that it is impossible to move on?

Coaching is all about decisions. Things will never always work out, even with the right decisions, but Fickell/staff has made wrong decision after wrong decision. Choices of which players to run off the team. Which transfer to bring in. Choice of OC/direction of offense.

"It felt like we were playing a video game." Former #Badgers WR Alex Erickson had a front row seat to Melvin Gordon's 408 yards against Nebraska. Fun reminiscing with Alex on the show today>> youtu.be/aVUlkOt6rJk

@ZachHeilprin question: seems more Fr / RS Fr are challenging for 2 deep roles than we’ve seen the last couple years. ( I think?) Has there been some change in recruitment philosophy and / or development? Or, has luck just shifted in the staff’s direction?

@ZachHeilprin an interesting camp topic would be how you’re feeling about each position group (better / same / weaker) as they end camp 2025 vs end of camp 2024 (as best possible w/out actual game insight). Would help me better sort out hype / reality.

@ZachHeilprin @TheSwing_WI Arguably the best of The Swing and The Camp podcasts you’ve done. Great questions and dialog. It also helps having an open, honest, and thought-full guest.

Wisconsin has won back-to-back games (non-OT) when allowing 80+ points for the first time since 1992. 🤯
