@JeffNadu Back in his day they a decision couldn’t get you the belt. You needed a TKO or KO. So you basically can beat the champion for 10-12 straight rounds and still not take the belt back.

Just adding something here. Getting kicked in the throat will infact knock you out unconscious. The impact can and will do 1 of 2 things. It can cause trauma to the vagus nerve or the Carotid artery which will cause a major shift in the dropping of blood pressure and actually send you into a very deep state of unconsciousness which is probably what happened.
