@MrsGoresDiary Mmm. A deeply familiar interaction to me, lol

@TheNotoriousRDS Kid at school used to rush to the microwave in order to cook his frozen fish sticks for 4-5 minutes every day. Took tons of time, and everyone’s food smelled like fish.

@cross_merc64619 @TheNotoriousRDS Really footage of how seriously you take most discussions 🤭
English

Actual footage of @TheNotoriousRDS and I discussing anything of worth 😆
Joel Berry@JoelWBerry
The fact that this couple has revealed that the guy was explaining about a podcast he listened to featuring Ben Sasse about how Liberal Arts education needs to do a better job of preparing people for their jobs makes this so much better lol

@MrsGoresDiary TOO fast!! And he’s chock-full of plans for fulfilling all his duties (real or imaginary ones), so it often feels like talking to a little adult in a kids body. 🤣

@MotherGrundy Or, to show your family you really love them, you can laminate copies of the spreadsheet and use them as placemats ✨ Go the extra mile and highlight their individual faults! They’ll love it!
English

@MagpieReids I have to delete this spreadsheet I’m using???

@MrsGoresDiary I am SO excited to, (Lord willing), have a yard soon. 🎉

I brought my littles out to my parents’ house for a day in the country.
They ate pancakes, they dug a trench in the dirt pile and filled it with water they collected from the faucet in rain boots, they played with a tiny turtle their granddaddy brought them, they went fishing, they pushed each other on the big swing, they took baths with the eternal water toys at Grandmother’s house (two plastic tugboats, a wind-up scuba diver, and a broken spray bottle), they sat on a quilt in the living room floor with popcorn and Easter candy to watch a movie, they sprayed each other with the water hose, they drew a huge road on the wraparound porch with sidewalk chalk for their scooters, they blew bubbles, they ran around shirtless and drew tattoos on their bellies…
and all it took was me being a day-long wall who said “no” every time they asked to come inside or watch TV other than our scheduled movie time.
If you notice, that’s just a couple of very firm no’s and a WHOLE lot of yeses.
It’s funny that this takes a backbone and stamina - it’s easier to say a lot of NO (no you can’t get dirty, no you can’t turn the water on, no you can’t get the art supplies out, no you can’t use the boots like that), and a miserly, sluggardly yes or two (yes you can come inside and yes you can watch TV all day long!!).
But that’s how you lose.

@Lexy_Sauve My guess is both that there are those who prefer reading the charts over written instructions, and that it’s easier as the pattern writer to visualize the instructions (particularly for lace) as a grid.
There are some really annoying charts out there though 🤣
English

Newbie knitting question.
Why in THE WORLD do charts exist? Is it literally just for visual learners? Or is there some knitting principles I was never explained or a mechanism I’m overlooking?
I’m knitting two cabled projects right now. I’ve knit cables various times before so the skill isn’t new, but one is charts and one is written. I’m flying through the written cables, but it’s taking weeks and weeks to make any progress on the charts. 😅 Really eye opening to do them side by side.
