Typically, the providers will not have adequate and reliable information about which drugs may be the cause of the toxic clinical condition, therefore, it is dangerous to use medications, such as antipsychotics or antidepressants in these psychiatric emergencies, as there is a risk for the development of NMS or Serotonin Syndrome, which if untreated can lead to sudden death,( and rhabdomyolysis is frequently seen.)
