@Collider No website does the bullshit guessing game with their headlines quite like Collider. It's hilarious. They'll say ANYTHING to avoid actually mentioning the title in the headline to ensure those precious clicks. Saying ALL that instead of just "Avatar: Fire & Ash is a hit..." 😂

@thebrainmaze Why would you go to all this trouble to then NOT have everything to scale? This is practically useless without it being to scale...

Artemis Mission Route in 3D - This animation visualizes the Artemis mission trajectory in a dynamic 3D perspective, showing how the spacecraft travels through the Earth–Moon system while all celestial bodies are in motion. Instead of a static path, the Sun, Earth, and Moon move simultaneously, revealing the true complexity of orbital mechanics. The result highlights how the Artemis route is not a simple curve, but a constantly shifting trajectory shaped by gravity and motion. This view provides a clearer understanding of how modern space missions navigate through space in real time. Right now, Artemis is on its return path to Earth and is expected to arrive back soon as it completes its mission. The sizes and distances of the Sun, Earth, and Moon are not to scale and are adjusted for visual purposes.

@BrandonMChu In a pressurised environment with air like a space station, you could probably just keep "swimming" as Dory said, and you'd slowly move by displacing air. In a vacuum, like space, you'd be pretty screwed unless you had something to throw in the opposite direction.

@DiscussingFilm Your description of this image is wrong... it's not an alignment where the Moon is between the Sun and Earth, this was just an eclipse for the Artemis crew because their flightpath meant the Sun went behind the Moon, that's all.

First photo of The Artemis II eclipse. A rare alignment where the Moon slips directly between the Sun and Earth, creating this eclipse.

Then it will fail. Youre taking a game made for gamers by gamers with gamers in mind and trying to profit off its name. You want to make it more appealing to “nongamers” then you will lose the gamer audience. If we are so revolting that you dont want us as an audience, then dont use our shit for your coin collecting, you greedy twats.

“Why is it so hard to land again” is only a question if you ignore how Apollo actually worked. We did not lose the ability. We stopped funding the program. Apollo was a massive national project with 400,000 people, a blank check budget, and a Cold War deadline. When the political goal was met, the money and workforce were redirected. Modern missions are not trying to repeat Apollo. They are trying to build sustainable systems, reusable landers, long duration habitats, and deep space infrastructure. That is a much harder engineering problem than a short term flags and footprints mission. If we wanted another Apollo style landing, we could brute force it the same way we did in the 60s. The challenge today is not “we forgot how.” It is that we are building something bigger, safer, and meant to last. The difficulty is a sign of ambition, not evidence of a hoax.

If you are using the earth as a reference frame, the moon is actually doing a close flyby of Artemis II.

@nathanrobii There is a big difference between motion capture and performance capture. They were clear to highlight the differences way back in 2009 with the first Avatar, how are people still conflating the two? You do a disservice to the actors to call it "mocap".

@arojinle1 It's really quite scary how you and so many other commenters can't tell that this is a VERY obviously British comedy sketch, and not actually a real thing. We're so doomed as a species.

@JustEsBaraheni Yes, but a small point to your post, which is somewhat misleading... the picture on the left is not how they made the shot on the right. That shot is made using VFX, with another 2017 shots in the movie. The left image was used to make the close-up shots and reflections, here:

The best compliment I can give this movie that you could tell that it was made by people. The practicality spoke volumes. That’s a huge achievement with something that looks as beautiful as this does on a big screen.

@DiscussingFilm No, @DiscussingFilm, it wasn't. A couple of close-up shots of Ryan Gosling's helmet and the reflections in it, were created using this method, but the scene as a whole, is largely created with visual effects by @ILMVFX. Please do better. This is lazy reporting and is misleading.

The astrophage space scene in ‘PROJECT HAIL MARY’ was created by tiny LEDs placed on chicken wire that were used while pouring water in front of the lens to refract the light. It was then shot with an Alexa LF camera with the infrared filter removed.

I honestly wish religion had never existed. Imagine how far we would be as a species if humanity consistently pursued evidence-based, rational answers instead of constructing narratives around imagined deities.

@octaviodigimon @CuriosityonX It isn't. Obviously. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ It's there as a reference for SCALE. It's OBVIOUSLY not our solar system's position... How the fuck would we get a picture of that?

SPACE is BIG. 🤯 Voyager 1 has been flying away from Earth for 47 years at 35,000 mph. In the bottom frame, it hasn't even left the pixel. The Carina Nebula is 7,500 pixels away from that dot.

@RaduzTengo @CuriosityonX @grok Engage your brain and think critically for a split second please. The last image has the solar system SUPERIMPOSED on it for a reference of scale. That is OBVIOUSLY not a picture of our solar system's position in space, from thousands of light-years away. 🤦🏻‍♂️

@sola_chad Look, @sola_chad, you'd be forgiven for seeing this and thinking that if you were a medieval peasant in the 14th century... but it's 2026. We have science. We KNOW what causes aurora borealis, and it isn't an invisible sky wizard. At this point, it's just embarassing for you.
