5/ Your viewers want to escape their ordinary world, but also relate to something familiar - only story and character do that consistently well. And only film can deliver that in a leveraged way.

6/ For good reason, grandparents don’t whip out user manuals and academic journals when it’s time to put the grandkids to bed. It would surely get the job done and send the poor kid to sleep, but it would also rob both grandparent and child of the magic of story.

5/ Let’s be clear, the expository interview will always have a place — in documentaries, quality YouTuber output, and other specific situations. In our opinion though, as a wholesale method, this mode of telling rather than showing, has had its day.

1/ A thread: why craft short films in place of traditional, straight-ahead commercials. When you want to be moved and inspired, where do you go? #inspiration #WhatToRead #WhatToWatch You might pick up a novel, sign into Netfilx… maybe download something from Audible.
