(1/2) Hypothesis with a highly contestable epistemic status: When the automotive industry tried to solve autonomous driving SAE Level>3, they in fact tried to solve an instance of the "AI-complete" class, leading to an artificial general intelligence (AGI) with a huuge TAM.

(2/2) Not realising this creates a mistfit between the >L3 AD development effort and the minuscule TAM of mobility. No wonder the industry is in such a trough of desilusionment. The aim has to be AGI! But only if AI-alignment is solved.
