Funny how because of Toy Story 5 coming out a bunch of defenders of Toy Story 4 said it would lead to people appreciating that movie more. Having now seen 5, I think it actually makes 4 look even worse in retrospect. At least 5 doesn’t awkwardly pretend it’s the end of the series

@grizzlikesfilm Eh. I think the BND lighting is appropriate bc it represents this seemingly dark presence in Peter’s mutation, while the Raimi lighting represents the decision he’s faced with, so both are appropriate. Tho I think in the BND shot the lenses should be much brighter so they pop

If movies like Raimi were released today, there would be people who would complain about the cinematography just because it has shadows. A good light is not necessarily when everything is illuminated, but when the light is in harmony with the shadows. Sometimes the excess of shadows is a way to make the context of the scene more mysterious and give an oppressive feeling. The bad light is when nothing makes sense or seems to have a conversation with the context addressed. Seeing people complaining about shadows in a movie is the most pathetic thing I've read today on this site

people keep saying how good this looks but it's obvious they just spiked the contrast with some warm tones after the backlash. it's overcooked to the point there's tons of crushed shadows so you can barely see Holland's eyes at times. it's better but still doesn't look great imo!
