@stellaparkes Something that needs caution so that you don’t find you’ve lost ground floor units that you need for #highstreet #retail, #hospitality and other commercial uses, and avoid creating stretches of dwelling frontages that put people off going beyond to shops etc on the other side!

@PlaceManagement #Stroud was an early adopter of championing “Living Above the Shop” but converting whole units including empty street level shops into residential units will change the dynamic of the town centre.

We have quite a good proportion of people “living above the shop” in #Stroud but several empty shops in the town centre. I have always thought “live/work” units made sense in a town centre #placemaking
