My favorite realization in Mahoyo is that Aoko’s attitude is just a shield against the one person she can’t logically solve. Soujuurou isn’t dense, he’s just purely sincere, LITERALLY the tether keeping her human,while she’s the anchor holding him to a world he doesn't understand

It’s incredible how perfect Aoko and Soujuurou are for each other. Chapter 12 makes it so obvious: they act as the necessary shackles for each other’s sanity and will, they’re exactly what the other needs to stay human

This is why I feel so much disgust whenever some dipshit says something like, "all that money they spent on going to space could have been spent on helping the homeless." No amount of money given to the government will ever solve a problem that has nothing to do with a lack of funding. If you give the government more money, they just use it to expand the bureaucracy. They hire more middlemen, open more departments, require more paperwork, all for no reason other than to justify their spending. It's intentionally designed from the ground up to be slow, inefficient, and wasteful in order to keep people working unnecessary jobs employed. The money doesn't go to the homeless. It goes to contractors and pencil pushers, and some politician skims off the top.

🚨 do you understand what New York City just accidentally admitted.. NYC spent $81,705 per homeless person last year.. the median American household earned $81,228.. the government spent MORE to keep someone homeless than most families earned to keep themselves housed.. that $81,705 isn't going to the homeless person.. it's going to the system around them.. shelters, administrators, case managers, contracts, overhead.. the industry that manages homelessness.. not the end of it.. if NYC gave every homeless person that money directly.. they could afford nearly 2 years of rent.. most of them wouldn't be homeless anymore.. instead the money goes to the system.. the system keeps running.. the homelessness stays.. and every year they ask for more funding to manage the problem that the funding was supposed to solve.. the homeless are worth $81,705 a year to the system.. they're worth nothing to it solved..
