President Isaias Afwerki is an Eritrean politician who has been the president of Eritrea since shortly after he led the Eritrean People's Liberation Front (EPLF) to victory in 24 May 1991, ending the 30-year-old war for independence from Ethiopia. His political ideology is patriotism and Nationalism, in Eritrea ethnicity is not an issue, apart from South Africa and Tanzania, Eritrea is third country in Africa who successfully created a sense of Nationhood, Eritrea is an African success story. The nation provides for its peoples needs despite the impact of sanctions imposed by the west which are meant to undermine its sovereignty. Today Eritrea is the most powerful nation militarily in Horn of Africa and most stable nation, comrade Isaias is last surviving pan-Africanist leader in our continent.
