I once dated someone who used to complain that I was too independent. At first, I thought it was cute. He’d say things like,You don’t need anybody. You act like you can survive alone. Funny thing is… the moment I became emotionally dependent on him, he changed. Now I was too clingy.Too emotional. Too demanding. That relationship taught me something painful, Some people don’t want partnership. They just want the ego boost of feeling needed. The same traits they admire in you at the beginning become the traits they punish later once they’re insecure. I lost myself trying to make someone feel like a man. Never again.
