@jen_tcg I recommend trying cardfight vanguard. It's action based economy with a unique resource that involves being forced to take damage. It got popular during Yu-Gi-Oh's lowest point in 2010 and has an anime around it!

one thing I’ve noticed is that almost every new TCG tries to replicate Magic’s mana system. Riftbound, SWU, OPTCG, even Hearthstone and LoR all are basing their gameplay around a mana-like resource economy. why don’t TCGs copy Yugioh or Pokemon’s “action economy” systems instead?

@EmberTCG Kewl Tune's the fairest deck and is the only one not trying to create big boards or floodgate your opponent. And the perfect knowledge only matters if you're skilled enough to know how to navigate your opponent's turn

hot takes this is the most skilled format ive ever played (since 2023) kewl tune is a fair deck that has more than enough counterplay the existence of kt only allows strong engine decks with minimal bricks and redundancy to be played which makes the format better

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed this, and I want to have a discussion about shuffling in general. To be clear: I don't think Neddy cheated. In fact, he is actually ONLY shuffling the top of his deck , contrary to what the OP claimed, and he also did "proper" mash shuffles after this clip. I believe he sufficiently randomized his deck. However, neither mashing not riffling truly randomize the deck, as cards near the top stay near the top and same for the bottom. This is also likely why PTCG "randomization" and physical "randomization" feel different. There's also the factor of how many/which holographic cards you play, which warp differently and have a tendency to be "picked up" more when you're grabbing half your deck to start shuffling. What's the actual "best" way to shuffle to get the cards as close to actually random as possible? Intuitively, I find pile counting (not calling it shuffling so @AzulGG doesn't yell at me) before mashing to be the most effective as you're first evenly distributing clumped cards before randomizing them, as opposed to just mashing which can still leave clumped cards near each other as I mentioned above. I always do a pile count after each game and after my deck is sorted (deck checks, etc.) and I've found I've had fewer games where I "brick". This could be purely psychological, as I haven't actually sat down and tested which is more effective. What have you all found to be the best way to randomize decks?

If you try to explain why this deters you from playing Pokemon, some random "pro" player will try to tell you this was a deckbuilding issue.

I hope they make a leader based game with a separate resource deck, where your life total is based on the leader and you denote it using the top cards of your deck. Also, it'd be cool if some units have like a defense power to protect yourself from your opponent. It'll be unique!

@StarkMaximum @jen_tcg All in all, if you're comparing to the rest of the game, this card is good by itself. You asked about combos, and those starters are only as good as the cards they bridge into. Hence why the banlist either hits starters, or end result pieces. If they hit F&V, it'll be an ED piece

@StarkMaximum @jen_tcg The card itself is fair cause it's 1 for 1 removal. It's primarily playable solely cause it replaces itself, yet that's reliant on being able to afford two extra deck spaces to use it. Also, if the extra deck targets weren't good, this card would only see super niche play 1/x

finally got to mess around with this card on master duel…. it’s broken

@StarkMaximum @jen_tcg The niche things is it's a quick play spell that can target your own cards. You can dodge targeting negates, and you can also bypass cards that say "Your opponent cannot respond with monster effects" by chaining this then with an important monster effect you need to resolve. 2/x

@SunseedJess I'm so happy someone finally addressed the lack of deck profiles and top player insights in Pokemon. And it's funny that a Yu-Gi-Oh Worlds Competitor is the one to do it.

OH and I also did a deck profile on top :) If I can do a deck profile in a snowfield at 3,000 meters, other players can do them too

Pokemon TCG is in NEED of top players doing deck profiles like this in order to get new players. Limitless does not offer the insights into deck building choices or matchups. Locking things behind a paywall is not how you get people to play your game.

@NerdFactorYGO @MBTYuGiOh Whenever one piece players try to convince me to play it's always about prizing or "it's not Yu-Gi-Oh." They can't describe the gameplay to me or what makes it compelling. To me it's watered down/small-brained Vanguard

so is bandai's entire business model just to make a card game, support it for a year, then jettison it for a new one its becoming clearer daily that OP's lasting success is a total fluke in what is otherwise the call of duty of card game publishers

ok I think it's really funny how everyone has a different perspective on the specific choices of decks in the meme and no one actually answered the question anyway branded should be on the right cuz it has been "end phase get all my shit back" turbo for its entire lifespan

@jen_tcg People hate branded cause of dumb reasons like it's still alive and main phase 3, etc. I hate branded cause it goes into time, and your average branded player spends 30 minutes of the clock just to end on mirrorjade pass
