@KSUFan360 @jlkurtz There’s plenty that could help or hurt Tech when it comes to the application process and we’ll see where it goes from there to this point it’s really not a discussion but when the media rights come up things can change rapidly and it’s about positioning yourself
English

@RedRaidRitt @jlkurtz And it's great to have that goal, but the ability to meet their goal would ultimately be determined by the voting whim of current members. Each of which may have their own agenda besides academic qualifications.

If Texas Tech ever gets an invite from the SEC or Big Ten or Super League, it would leave in a heartbeat, no matter how it was treated in the Big 12. Same for any Big 12 school. I understand you're frustrated, but let's think this through.

@jlkurtz Texas Tech will one day leave the Big12. The way we were treated will fester until this change occurs. Texas Tech was the biggest revenue generator for the Big12 in 25-26 and will continue to be moving forward.
English

@KSUFan360 @jlkurtz I think if we head to two major conferences that historical thinking goes out the window. All that will matter is can these schools bring us more revenue. That’s not to say we 100% go down that path but if we do Miami and FSU won’t be left behind
English

@RedRaidRitt @jlkurtz Sports inclusion may help incentive presidents to push certain schools. SEC is notoriously against multiple schools from the same state. UT being the lone exception. FSU, Miami and Clemson may find themselves blocked by UF and USC respectively. Big Ten may still be their play
English

@zylerbuchanan Hammond is the guy I have no question. There’s going to be some rough patches over the first few weeks as he learns what it takes to be a starting QB week to week. But we have one of the most dynamic running games in the sport to support him through that. Trust
English

@KSUFan360 @jlkurtz It could but we will see Techs plan is to be an AAU school by 2035 so things can change the timeline is aggressive but that’s the stated goal. There’s several big hurdles to get over before that’s even an option but they are working towards it
English

@RedRaidRitt @jlkurtz Think you kind of missed the point. In 2023, AAU was extended to 6 schools, including George Washington, UC Riverside and USF. None of which had anything to do with sports.
If other schools have similar plans as TTU, that might limit TTU chances if there is a limit.
English

@KSUFan360 @jlkurtz FSU and Clemson make the most sense to go to the SEC. Miami likely SEC as well but Big10 could be an option. UTD & George Mason do nothing for the Big10 and will not be invited so that’s not even a discussion
English

@RedRaidRitt @jlkurtz NU has been working to rejoin.
FSU, Clemson, University of Texas at Dallas, George Mason also have stated goals of joining AAU in the near future with similar plans.
FSU and Clemson specifically make sense for future sports expansion for the Big Ten or SEC.
English

@KSUFan360 @jlkurtz I’m not saying any of this will happen in the immediate future this is more of a long term setup. Obviously members can always decline to invite but Tech will be one of the best outsider brands to have a shot at an invite imo
English

@RedRaidRitt @jlkurtz Institutions have to be invited by current members. There are no criteria in which they are automatically qualified. Like a good Ole Boys club, no matter what TTU did, if they had upset current members, that invite would never come.
Keep in mind, they even kicked out NU
English

@jasongordo626 @jlkurtz I think that’s a fair perspective honestly, this wasn’t something tech was striving for until recently so there is going to be some challenges. I think AAU is one piece of what Tech needs to get into the Big10 the viewership revenue and overall brand growth will need to continue
English

@jasonrmcintyre @maddhombre Depends if your mens league is done or not, we’ve got a backup PG role open or a depth end of the bench role just depends on what you can handle
English

Pretty awesome that Sorsby gets to keep the money they paid him
Texas Tech rides for their guys

Statement regarding Brendan Sorsby. Long Live the Matadors!
English

@VolinBluegrass @jasongordo626 @jlkurtz The set plan and goal is 2035. Tech is making strides but I agree it’s a ways out but they can share the plan and path to show they are heading that way in a potential expansion
English

@RedRaidRitt @jasongordo626 @jlkurtz It takes decades to be AAU. They are 20+ years away. Not to mention they are ranked 15th among Big 12 schools in the US NWR rankings in 2026. Nowhere near Big or SEC ready.
English

@jasongordo626 @jlkurtz I agree Tech has been pretty adamant about obtaining AAU status so I’d anticipate they ultimately get there. We’ll see what happens but there’s a plan laid out that could be shared with the Big10 that could open that door potentially
English

@RedRaidRitt @jlkurtz Yes, to Texas Tech’s credit that’s a goal they have set for 2035. I hope they get there. Most universities aspire to AAU, but there are only 69 in the US. Nebraska was dropped in 2011 after being a member since 1909. They have been trying to restore their status ever since.
English

@jlkurtz The tortilla issue and knife gate last year rubbed a ton of Tech fans the wrong way. The league office continues to take the opposing side against Tech on every possible issue
English

I think there is a difference between respecting a school and treating a school like it is above the rules and everybody else. We will disagree here, and that's okay. I understand the frustration.
Josh🌵@JoshReed21
@jlkurtz I think there was a world where tech works to keep the Big12 alive in the next era of college sports. It’s now worth asking why they should have any interest in that. Not because of Sorsby, but because over the last 2 years the rest of the league has clearly not valued Tech.
English

@SSNCharlestonSo I didn’t know you existed until now congrats big dog
English

@KSUFan360 @jlkurtz Texas Tech is working to become an AAU school. Not sure how far along they are in the process but it was announced a year or two ago
English

@jlkurtz TTU is not an AAU school. Until the Big Ten changes that, they are out.
SEC already has its preferred Texas schools. It doesn't need another one and UT and TAM would attempt to block it. They won't have 3 schools from 1 state.
Only chance is a super league from scratch.
English

@jasongordo626 @jlkurtz It’s actually something that is in the works. Not sure how far along it is but it was announced that the plan was to be AAU
English

@jlkurtz Tech is not an AAU university. Until that changes, their only option is the SEC.

Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark had some thoughts on this week.
