Let me make a small prediction about where high school coaching is headed: Coaches who rely ONLY on instinct are going to feel like Blockbuster in the Netflix era. And coaches who rely ONLY on data are going to feel like they’re coaching inside an Excel spreadsheet with no windows. The magic is in the merge. Your instinct says: “Something feels off today.” The data says: “Yeah… fatigue 8/10, split range wide, slept 5 hours.” Together they say: “Let’s adjust before this turns into a three-week injury spiral.” That’s the future. Not guessing. Not overthinking. Just aligned coaching where numbers sharpen your instincts instead of replacing them. Think of it like this: Instinct is the steering wheel. Data is the headlights. Try driving without either.

@chcknparmchenzo For some reason, those who didn't start running in school XC teams is always concerned with turning an ankle (or getting new shoes muddy 😂). Having run XC and trail races (and coaching XC) since 1980, it's the BEST kind of racing for me!

We need more open cross country races. Enough with this marathon boom. Everyone needs to get on the cross country train 🚂
