A powerful reminder as another year begins. This passage keeps our focus on humility, service, and the example Christ set for us.

Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation. - Isaiah 12:2

It can be a challenge to remember that what we’ve been given isn’t meant to be held onto. But there’s real joy in growing it and using our talents and resources well.

With each day, we have the privilege of walking with Jesus as Lord and knowing Him more. That can only lead us to deeper gratitude for what we’ve been given. "Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving." - Colossians 2:6-7

Walking by faith doesn’t remove the storms, but it changes how you walk through them.

Instead of measuring success by what we can accumulate, it’s worth thinking more about what we’re producing.

Psalm 107:1 (ESV) Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever.

Philippians 3:7–8 (ESV) Whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ, because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.

When it’s God’s timing, things come together in ways you could never plan.

As I celebrate Christmas at the White House alongside leaders from across our nation, the weight and history of the place are not lost on me. It’s a reminder of the blessings our country has known and the truth that we are all in need of a Savior.
