The Government has confirmed that its so called 'independent' Digital ID Advisory watchdog, will not have its minutes published. We are expected to carry out parliamentary scrutiny on one of the most significant erosions of our civil liberties for decades, and yet we are not told the group budget, member selection process, or given the minutes from their meetings. The fear theater from the drama students have finally cracked most folks to become anti-tech. If this was not the intention, this is the outcome. From miscommunications of data centers, to “we must lock it down” AI fear, we have a cult induced society lobotomy.
This is one reason I have exerted very clear public pressure on Anthropic to grow up.
Somebody think this is a good turn of events, but no society in history has it turned out good when most people despise progress and the results of engineering and technology.
It’s not a good sign and it’s up to us to do all weekend to change these perceptions.

It simultaneously: Makes Claude look more capable (rich internal cognition) Makes Claude look more controllable (we can see and steer the workspace) Makes Anthropic look like the only adults in the room doing serious science on these questions That combination is worth far more than any single benchmark number. This is how Anthropic markets: by doing the research that makes their safety story the most credible one in the industry, then letting the research itself do the selling. The UK Government just admitted its so-called independent Digital Identity watchdog will operate in total secrecy.
No published minutes, costs hidden, members chosen in the dark.
They are building a national identity system for every adult in Britain but people are not allowed to see how it's coming together.

The Government has confirmed that the minutes of the ‘independent’ Digital ID advisory group will not be published.
It also refused to answer parliamentary questions about the group’s budget and how its members were selected.
This group is supposed to provide independent scrutiny of a digital identity system that will affect every adult in Britain. Yet the public won’t be able to see its work, and MPs can’t get basic answers about its operation or cost.
So er … we can’t scrutinise the scrutiny.
