Why are student nurses so under-supported by the NMC? I’ve missed 3 shifts this week as my 5-year-old son was admitted to hospital, and now, with just 2 months left on placement, I’m forced to cram 48 hour weeks to meet the 2300 hour requirement. How are we supposed to care for others when we can’t properly care for ourselves working these long, unpaid hours. Student nurses need compassionate/carers/discretionary leave too. *just to add - this isn’t a placement complaint. They’ve been AMAZING* #StudentNurse #StudentLife #NMC #Nurse
