Today, we got to celebrate our STEM Fair winners at school. We pulled all the students together and passed out their medals and special awards. @WeAreHAEST@HCPSElemScience@HCPS_STEM
Check out these awesome games from our Family S.T.E.M. challenge. Families were tasked with building a game with a spoon. Students shared their designs on the morning show. @WeAreHAEST@HCPSElemScience@HCPS_STEM
We include the Bridge to Vocabulary words during the morning show. Students love calling in to see if they have the correct answer! @WeAreHAEST@HCPSElemScience@HCPS_STEM
We are learning in a Winter Wonderland. Students designed and built an animal or object they would find in winter. They calculated the volume of each box used to find the volume of their whole design. @WeAreHAEST@HCPSElemScience@HCPS_STEM@HCPSElemMath1
Mrs. Morris has students do an open sort at the beginning of the lessons to assess prior knowledge. The class does a gallery walk and class discussion. This helps Mrs. Morris navigate her lesson. @WeAreHAEST@HCPS_STEM@HCPSElemScience
Mrs. Elkin's class is playing pass the vocab word. They analyze how the last vocab word relates to their new vocab word. This is a great way to assess student understanding. @WeAreHAEST@HCPSElemScience
After taking a mini quiz, students reflect on their score and determine the reason they got answers incorrect. We also track our progress compared to the district. @WeAreHAEST@HCPSElemScience@HCPS_STEM
After reading One Plastic Bag, students created objects out of a bag that would solve a problem. Designs needed to be sturdy enough to be used multiple times. @WeAreHAEST@HCPSElemScience@HCPS_STEM
