When I was young, I thought ET was a great movie. When I grew up I bought the DVD and watched it again with adult eyes. I kept shaking my head and wondering how we couldn't see what was right in front of our eyes the whole time.

Two global powerhouses? Oh please, I see only ONE. Singapore is what competent governance actually looks like. It's pro-growth and has strong rule of law. Merit and results are favored over feelings and cheap sloganeering. You? You took one of the greatest cities in human history and ran it straight into decay and decline. Knife crime has exploded on your watch, phone snatchings have soared, and the rate of robberies and violent crime with injury are way up. Young Londoners are so terrified to walk certain streets that many have moved to safer towns in the countryside. The streets are filthier, the tube is far more unreliable and chaotic, and businesses and talent are fleeing London. Your woke policies are the EXACT OPPOSITE of Singapore's and the results are clear. And don't get me started on how you've poisoned race relations. London is now a seething cauldron of division and resentment. While Singapore builds unity through shared standards, forced integration, and zero-tolerance enforcement, you've peddled woke grievance politics that pit communities against each other. You've obsessed over "structural racism" and "anti-Blackness," pushing narratives that scream institutional guilt at every turn, all the while anti-white sentiment and antisemitism have surged to horrifying levels on your watch. Jewish Londoners living in fear, synagogues needing extra security, streets filled with chants that call for their destruction. You downplay it, equivocate, and let the marches roll on with kid gloves. Two-tier policing has gone off the charts with police being harsh on some protests, soft on others depending on the identity or cause. Native Londoners and white working-class communities feel abandoned and demonized, while certain groups get a free pass. Your own office even put out garbage claiming a White family "doesn't represent real Londoners." You've fanned the flames of resentment instead of demanding assimilation, excellence, and color-blind law and order. So sorry, but London *was* a powerhouse, but that was before your tenure. It's not anymore. In 1946, a young Lee Kuan Yew stepped off the boat into a battered London still licking its wounds from war. Amid the mess, he witnessed something miraculous - an unsupervised newspaper stall at Piccadilly Circus. People stopped, dropped their coins, took their paper, and walked on. Aside from being a dismal, joyless, pedantic slog, Disclosure Day is also a blatant rewrite of the X-Files' Anasazi/Blessing Way/Paperclip storyline. • Top secret UFO digital files are stolen • Rebellious gov't agent seeks to expose the alien conspiracy • His (ginger) partner is an abductee (with psychic powers) • The pair flee and are relentlessly pursued by paramilitary hit squads in black SUVs • Their pursuers are led by a mysterious Englishman who works for a covert corporation scheming to prevent disclosure The difference being X-Files had appealing and interesting characters, youthful zest, and the power of the zeitgeist.

There's a thing with a train car in Anasazi but there's also the train in Nisei/731.

@SecretSunBlog I saw it at the Ledgewood Circle drive-in in my PJ'S, with a giant tube bag of popcorn and car speakers attached to the car lol. I loved it, like most kids, but yeah....So many of these movies had so much programming & subliminals running.

Modern internet reviewers are complaining about a "sluggish" two-hour setup, missing the fact that the atmosphere *is* the point. Spielberg using blinding light, shadows, and practical framing to create awe. Pop culture has completely cannibalized real history, making actual facts look like tired cinematic tropes.Because decades of movies and television have heavily commercialized UFO lore, the general public now views historic, documented evidence as just a collection of Hollywood cliches. When Spielberg strips away the exaggerated Hollywood fiction to focus on the stark, gritty reality of the phenomenon, modern audiences mistake his accuracy for a lack of imagination. Younger viewers used to non-stop Marvel-style digital effects are calling the film's 1970s paranoid-thriller aesthetic "dated" or "cheap". It was a great film. The dashed expectations based on modern tastes using constant cgi, quick edits, constant stimulation, amd the trailer, make for some mixed reactions. My mother is a longtime Spielberg fan and loved it.

Spoiler Alert: Disclosure Day isn't really about aliens or anything like that. It's about magical glow sticks that are never explained or exposited, but comprise the overwhelming bulk of the plot. They also do whatever Spielberg and Koepp need them to do whenever the plot runs aground.

If you're a UFO cultist, you'll love Disclosure Day. Everyone else? Not so much.
