Thinking we're probably at an inch, but I can't tell for sure because my wife's landscaping grew up over my rain gauge. haha
I hadn't noticed because I haven't needed to look at it most of the summer

@nciacrops @LynchRlynch @FLOLOfarms @alex_woodall I had several that commented we were set on rain now. And I couldn’t agree for this exact reason. It largely all soaked in so fast! Clearly needed and very grateful to have it.

I was in 4 different corn fields, farmed by 4 different people w/3 different tillage systems & K deficiency symptoms were the theme of the day. All north of Hwy 18. Reasons: 1) Droughty conditions- hope this improves w/recent rain; 2) 2 fields has low STK levels. @alex_woodall

Life update
As many of you know, but some of you may not as we’ve not posted specifically about this on Facebook, big changes are ahead for the DeVore family. In February, Marcia accepted a job as the Director of Teaching and Learning for Oskaloosa Community Schools. /1

@itsmetoo92774 250 lb/a higher than normal 🤷♀️. Most guys are seeing what you are though, off a bit. This field in general lays wet so may have benefitted from the short term dryness we’ve started into. Can’t say I expect that for second cut though if trends continue.

@SkyViewBeef How was yield? I just finished baling a field that was off 25% compared to last year 1st cut. Got wheat to bale tomorrow that was only knee high. Was gonna follow it with beans but not sure if I need to follow with a forage crop or tell cows good luck.

Never in my life have I cut alfalfa and had it ready to bale 24 hours later. Most beautiful hay we’ve ever made but I’m not sure if I’m happy about that or afraid of the dry-ness this early.

@SkyViewBeef Well that either a youngster or me and old fart. It was a common for second crop to be put up dry in 24 hrs but not first crop. Tell me that you are a youngster cause I don't want to be the other.🤣

@mbacowboy @blakealbers Adjust margins. Higher on steak, cheap on hamburger. I stay seasonal with cuts (I grind roasts in summer, keep them in winter.)

I originally asked this as a reply to @blakealbers, but I'd like to hear from those of you who sell your own beef.
What have you done to move all cuts in a similar time frame to avoid a backlog of inventory (or running out of) various cuts?

months ago,met a kid at the high school during our tomato transplanting project in their greenhouse He skipped his next class that day to help finish. I told him to look me up if he ever wanted a job he called today: wants experience. eager to start "Interview" on Monday ;)

One of the cats just walked into the living while we're enjoying Sunday morning coffee and barfed. Our helpful dog sprung into action and cleaned it up.
