A smart contract exploit earlier today has been contained and the affected smart contract facet disabled. There is currently no further risk to users. The only wallets affected were set to infinite approvals, and represented only a very small number of users. We are engaging with appropriate law enforcement authorities and relevant third parties, including security teams from the industry, to trace funds. We will issue a more detailed post-mortem as soon as possible.

DeFi A.D. (After Dencun) Filling up huge block spaces with on-chain transactions will arise as one of the biggest challenges that L2s will face as Ethereum scales even further. Meanwhile, existing DeFi protocols will not bring enough demands for that. This is obvious because they are designed to minimize on-chain transactions, since they are developed under high gas cost assumptions (e.g., AMMs, PerpDEXs, DOVs, off-chain orderbooks, etc) This is exactly why on-chain orderbook are destined to thrive on L2s — or on any high-performance blockchains. Orderbooks are the alpha and omega of the modern finance. By bringing it on-chain, DeFi will finally get TradFi-level sophistication. After that, we’ll all notice that what we had before was just a proof of concept. Due to its nature, an orderbook-centric DeFi ecosystem will generate enough demand for on-chain transactions, pushing us to scale Ethereum even further. After all, why have we all worked so hard to scale Ethereum in the first place?
