@JohnG34484329 @implausibleblog Work is literally about pay. That is exactly the point. Exchange of a person's time for compensation.
English

@implausibleblog Work isn't just about pay. Surely these 'graduates' don't want a life on benefits from their Mum's sofa. They must have greater vision than that?
English

Ava Santina, "In budget minimum wage increased £12.71 which is good on paper"
"But if a graduate is coming out of university earning £26,000 on min wage, how are they going to afford to live in a big city when rents are around £1,000 for a dirty room on the edge of the city?"
"When you look at these factors, it's unaffordable"
"Pat McFadden speaking sounded a bit Victorian workhouse, if you're not going into the workplace you won't get any support"
"Look at the strikes in Birmingham bin strikes, because £8,500 is going to be to taken form these workers"
"If a young person looks at an example like that, do they believe work pays?"
"Why would you bother if the government won't pay for your time to be there in the first place"
"We've just had Black Friday sales, when those figures come out I think we'll be astounded how little money people have spent over that weekend"
"It's because people don't have cash in their accounts"
"Why would young people go to work if it doesn't feel like it pays?"
English

@JimmyBroadbent The self awareness and transparency matters. PMR is being sold as a complete product and LMU is still early access/testing isn't it?
I don't think it's surprising that self awareness is met with more understanding than trying to flip something obviously unfinished
English

Not hating on our gentle MrGit here, but it's interesting how we treat this and PMR differently.
Don't get me wrong, the PMR launch was diabolical and this LMU event was marketed as a 'TEST' BUT we know how much prep a 24 hour takes - i'd be pissed if i practiced for nothing

Can't fix a problem till you know there IS a problem. 👍

The forced hate for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 comes from 2 lies that are being pushed about its fandom:
Lie #1:
People only like E33 because it's their first JRPG
Truth:
Many people who love E33 are lifelong JRPG fans who have felt disappointed in the genre for decades. For me, nothing has hit like this game since OG FF7 (1997) and maybe FFX (2001). For many people, this is the first time in ages they've felt the rush of a New Game hitting with that Old Game Magic
E33 also destroyed the lie that Turn-Based Combat would not look good in realistic graphics (a baseless excuse made for Final Fantasy for years). For long-time FF fans who've been bullied & gaslit about this issue, E33 is extremely vindicating
Lie #2:
People who love E33 have never heard of Bravely Default, Dragon Quest, Octopath Traveller, Persona etc
Truth:
Pixel / Anime / Low-Poly 3D games do not have the same mainstream appeal as realistic 3D. I'm not saying those games are bad, I'm saying they're niche. Some are huge within that niche, and that's great. But every Anime Fan (myself included) knows the pain of trying to get someone to try their favorite thing - but they won't because they "just don't like the style"
Not only that, many modern JRPGs suffer from dialogue bloat, sluggish pacing, and an overall childish tone. You might be ok with it, but those are dealbreakers for many people. There's a saying: "We grew up, but the games didn't."
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the best of the Old mixed with the best of the New, with none of the BS of either. That is why it is so successful and respected amongst its fandom. It's mainstream success is a victory for the JRPG scene. It's made average gamers curious to see what else the genre has to offer. And there's a lot of gold to be found.

@jerry_bateman @MartinSLewis For the avoidance of doubt... Future *state* pension
English

@jerry_bateman @MartinSLewis Pensions are funded out of current taxation. You do not pay for your future pension, that isn't how it works.

Charles dodges taxes, exempts himself from hundreds of laws and nabs millions in public money. #NotMyKing #AbolishTheMonarchy

@pedalsingh Thanks for this Manny, trying to remind myself of this more often in framing my mindset so seeing the reinforcement here helps a lot.
Best wishes to you and yours :)

@JolyonMaugham They also do their utmost to not adhere to their consumer rights. I had a return flight with them, one redirected for no reason (weather, when every other flight had landed safely) and one heavily delayed. Had to file for legal action through a third party to get my compensation.

@snowleopardess Reality? The reality that working people are poorer than pensioners as a demographic and yet continue to be expected to prop up a system that gets more expensive in real terms every year by design?
One third of pensioners are millionaires. Means test. Means test. Means test.
English

The stark reality of generational division.
Many people who are retired now did not have the opportunity or the money to pay into a private pension. Many are living in poverty.
But don't let reality get in the way of your hatred.
Denary@DeathToBananas
@snowleopardess We don't begrudge your pension. We begrudge your entire working life full of opportunities for wealth generation. Put it this way. I'm mid 30's and I put into my private pension enough that I don't need a state pension at all when I retire. That's how disillusioned I feel.

@StuartLussi @Dannys_Beard @metoffice Imagine being this sensitive over nothing.
It's probably because it wasn't in a place most readers of the tweet would know. Saying it was cold in Sanquhar would mean nothing to most readers. It'll be more informative on average to zoom out.
And no, I'm not a Londoner.
English

@Dannys_Beard @metoffice I can see that. I am talking about the text where "London" and "Scotland" are used. Not comparable areas in terms of surface area, just lazy and geographically nonsensical.
English

@GoodLawProject I am a big fan of your work but £65k for this job description is absolutely unhinged, especially while being in London 3 times a week.
For comparison, this is a lower salary than a medium-level data analyst in most finance/insurance companies. You're asking for a Head of...

@NathanJudah @wolvespoddy Do we need a long throw routine?
There was about a 15 minutes period in the second half tonight where we would work on our right with Semedo and Doc, and the Fulham LB would just boot it out for a throw knowing we'd just recycle it back to the defense so it didn't matter
English

@the_mediaman1 An FT does not carry an EV of 4 points, so that only works if they took a -4 to go Moyes to Emery or whatever.
English

Three changes
Bellegarde in
Toti in
Guedes in
Sarabia keeps his place
Doyle still bench
How we feeling?

@NathanJudah @wolvespoddy Do we need a striker, at least to let us rest JSL? He's looked exhausted of late and ineffective in duels, a stark departure from earlier in the season

@HmmVryIntrstng @JamesSurowiecki Lack of self awareness is a hell of a drug
English

@JamesSurowiecki that's a super specific subset, but while this guy is wrong about society hating young men the most, it's true that young men are the fucking worst
boys and men from like 16-28 are essentially heaps of aggressive hormones with no fucking impulse control and it shows
English

@NathanJudah Fully agree and hope this gets heard for you Nathan.
Quick (good faith) suggestion - with this being an important message and not really the usual Wolves news, worth having a word with the higher ups to have this not behind the paywall?
