I'd rather no hits and consistent average earnings. You usually don't know you are a one hit wonder until time has passed and you've failed to make another. It's almost always a curse, the money is rarely enough, and people are always like "what happened?"
Reenar@iamReenar
Would rather have no hit songs than be a one hit wonder ?
English

Truth is, a decent voice can get to singing a good song faster than a good ear can make a great beat. Learning how to produce may not take that long but learning how to make good music often takes much longer. Even those who learnt instruments early don't always make good music.
Rude 😈@Rudebeat__
As an. Artist or a songwriter why can’t you learn a Daw and learn how to record or mix and master your own music
English

@Vignelabl Understandable, what do you think is a fair price, based on what you know about the average upcoming artist's situation, coz many of us don't always know how okay their pocket is? Btw, there's a lot of flexibility considering percentages on various rights and even repeat work.
English

@ThaDropout When the price is too high, one won't get comfortable talking about bringing it down
English

What I don't get about this is people can mention what they feel is too high, but never mention what is too low, or what they are willing to pay. Without that, the conversation is incomplete, no progress is made.
VIGNÊ@Vignelabl
How can you charge an upcoming artist $200 for a beat? What are we singing??
English

I don't stress when people don't use beats I send. Sometimes, it's:
- Not as good
- Not what they are looking for currently
- Financial/general life hardships on their side
- Fear of being the first to try something different, etc.
Focus on what you can influence.
Ovrkast.@ovrkast
I hate being idealized as a producer. People love being sent things they won’t use.
English

Not necessarily, it can influence the music, but the beauty of art is the ability to go beyond what is. You paint a picture, it can be of a real or alternate past, present or future e.g. an artist from poverty can talk about poverty or something else, whatever needs to be heard.

Should an artist’s location determine the kind of music they make?
English

@Kamali_21 But as long as we are talking Amapiano duos, I can't downplay what Phori and Kabza did for the genre in terms of making a more digestible version for the mainstream. That's rarely as easy as people think.
English

@Kamali_21 MFR Souls is still my best in that wave, they've given a bit of everything. Every project feels like it has something new to offer, and you can always pick a bunch of good songs from each one. But yeah, it's hard to stay true to the game and also be a media darling.
English

@ThaDropout I would go with producer C, a mid beat producer with an open mind for the price of growing together
