Found a bunch of these Ceraphronids (?) alongside fungus gnats in my apartment, is this a new observation? Looking in Google scholar and UIUCs library I couldn't find anything

@Dinagapostemon This one came out of a bee hotel from someone's yard in Chicago, their bee hotel had a ton of these wasps

Anyone know what these little wasps could be? Found these in a bee hotel where everything died from mold and they don't seem developed enough to ID with a key

Huge amount of hairy-fingered mites (Chaetodactylus) on this poor bee, finding a lot of these in people's garden bee hotels that haven't been cleaned in years

This could be going on in your bee hotel, every bee from this one is covered with thousands and thousands of these mites

Winter ants are relatives of honey pot ants and will also have overfeed some workers, instead of those workers being filled with sugar and water these ants will store a lot of protein and fat.

Winter ants were out mating today, saw this mating trio and a Phidippus who managed to grab one as a snack

@NackoScott If it looked like they had droplets in their mouths they could be concentrating the sugar in a drop of nectar by evaporating the water—the only time I've seen bees doing that with their mouthparts that's what they were up to

Anyone know what these bumble bee queens are doing with their mouthparts? All six were doing the same behavior, but workers were not

Me mandaron este video de Euglossas macho visitando flores de Stanhopea. La particular forma de estas flores permite que las abejas colecten aceites y a su vez carguen con el polinio para llevarlo a otra flor. También parece que las abejas utilizan la flor como resbaladilla. ☺️🐝
