I am against opening the Strait of Hormuz this soon because keeping it closed longer can give us much more leverage, including Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon and economic benefits for Iran. However, I disagree with the arguments against negotiations and a ceasefire. Putting the Strait of Hormuz aside, what benefits does starting the war have for us? Does the destruction of Iranian economic infrastructures (if we go all the way) benefit us and give us a better upper hand? No. Precisely how can we force Israeli withdrawal through asymmetrical warfare? Can shooting missiles force the Jews back? No. What alternative do we have except negotiations and using the Strait of Hormuz as leverage? I understand the situation in Lebanon is grave, but the solution is not to abandon the talks. The solution is either keeping the strait closed for one more month or (at worst) continuing negotiations while attacking when the enemy does not abide by agreements. Post-war negotiations are not "peace talks"; they are the continuation of the war. Ultimately, I believe Hezbollah still has much more capability than it is currently using. We have not yet seen Hezbollah deploy FPVs in swarms of hundreds (like Ukraine), or launch serious attacks on Tel Aviv and Haifa. Haifa refineries for example. If Hezbollah lacks the capability now, that is understandable, but if it is holding back to keep tensions under control, that is a mistake. From this point onward, the solution is not to terminate the talks; it is to intensify Hezbollah’s attacks on the Lebanese front while keeping the strait closed on the Iranian side—especially since Iran accepted not collecting money from the strait, which is a disastrous agreement (even though we have the upper hand).
