I was looking forward to seeing this film but it exceeded my expectations by a considerable margin. Somehow it manages to be both like unalike and like Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s best previous work and how he pulled that mix off I haven’t a clue.

Blue Heron: reduced to whimpering sobs! obvious comparisons (Kiarostami, Akerman, a little Lynne Ramsay, even Obayashi) but it's the rare film you can truly call *original*. SR showing total formal control—Mobius strip structure is completely engrossing. just wow.

One Spoon Of Chocolate is a fresh and thrilling take on the revenge/lone drifter genre. RZA adds in some genuinely fascinating commentary with some absolutely brutal fight choreography. If you want a colorful, vibrant, violent throwback of a film, this is it.
