I'd personally focus on that *could* instead of *should* because, sadly, laws.

I've published tons of OSS things and develop for Web to IoT devices daily, you don't have to convince me, maybe you can read again what I wrote: if it's inevitable, or Linux users will be charged like pushers, get it right

@WebReflection @CryptoCyberia that should be your last concern of what's somebody else is doing. Go contribute to microsoft with such ideas. Computer is just a tool. It's not a nuclear button to protect it with ID verification.

I was just saying: I agree with you, but even if it happens, it's not that other options won't already have it backed in and as a way to sneak in ads and corporate metrics around, you know what I mean? @CryptoCyberia at the same time it's like "dad, can I use your credit card to pay this one thing?" kind of situation ... tons of parents will likely grant adult capabilities to their children "feeling better than others" in doing so (like Android phones with no parental limitations or similar)

@CryptoCyberia it's not that we have options ... right? Windows and macOS probably already do that + ads ID or metrics ID on Windows and everything else. some control over *some* miss-usage of tech is inevitable these days, it will also reduce AI capabilities and whatnot ... a two sided blade.
