Unpopular opinion: Maurice is the only real good father in this picture. Triton controls everything, the Sultan treats Jasmine like property to be married off and Pocahontas’ father imposes his destiny on her. Maurice just… loves Belle as she is.

@princesalamwane King Triton is a good father. He and Ariel were having a very normal disagreement about her growing up and safety. Not only did he learn his lesson and eventually fully support and enable his daughter to go pursue her dreams, but he literally sacrificed himself in her stead 😭
