I literally have a business loan out to my business partner right now with no bank involved. You don't need a bank to loan someone money. I've bought property with a real estate contract. No bank involved. You don't need programmable money to loan or borrow money without a bank.
Also, you can't get a mortgage with defi. A house is a physical tangible product. Its not a token on a block chain. In order to repossess a house, even if its deed is an nft or something, you would still need courts and police, which are centralized. DeFi loans are good for price speculation and leverage. That's it. Anything else will still be centralized to whatever jurisdiction its in.
